Short-term Propecia substitute?

I've been taking Propecia for a little over a year, and using Rogaine foam for about ten months. I also use Nizoral once every four or five days. I've run out of Propecia, and didn't realize that it was my last refill. My dermatologist won't call in a refill until I've seen him, but he can't get me in for a few weeks.
Can anyone recommend something over-the-counter that, even if it's not as good as finasteride, will maybe help to not lose momentum while I'm waiting?
I've heard a lot of people talking about saw palmetto pills. Is that a good/economical answer?

well i wouldn't stress over a couple of weeks you should be fine, but if you are going over the counter, then that means herbal.

Beta sitosterol is an active ingredient in saw palmetto and reported to be better at lowering DHT (but then again so is tea!)

Soy extracts might work, but its a long time since i read up on it, what i do know is when i have soy i get bad side effects, that suggest it's upping my estrogen.

Seriously if it's only 2 or so weeks i wouldn't bother, it might be good to give your body a break.

Don't even worry about it. I took almost 2 weeks off a month ago because I was out of the country and forgot my finasteride. Didn't notice any changes at all. I think you can safely take a month or 2 off without skipping a beat, as long as you go back on it for a good amount of time after.
