Hi !

Been on finastride 6months 0.5mg ED. Started with 1mg but got sides , 0.5mg took away the sides completely .

Shedding a bit in the shower . Counting between 30 hairs when worst and 5hairs on a good day. Seems like the shedding is getting better and I'm noticing that the hairs that comes out are thinn , short , "weak" hairs . Is this what is supposed to happen ? Pushing out the weak hairs to let new stronger hair take its place ?

Also is 0.5mg enough to maintain ?

Thank you

From what I read, those hairs shedding are to be replaced by newer stronger hairs . Losing 30 hairs in the shower isn't really a shed as on average each human loses 80-100 hairs a day.

0.5mg has been proven to be effective . What sides did you get on 1mg?

Okey, don't know if I'm loosing more during the day but I'm just noticing it in the shower . Not seeing hairs in other weird places like my pillow och sink anymore.

I got some erectile problems . weaker booner, harder time to get it up and lost my morning wood, problems with sleep and really dry skin on my forhead . Don't know how much of that was my mind playing me tricks but I'm quite sure most of it was sides .

Everything works fine now and I've added ZMA (magneius and zink) before bed to help everything working as it should .

Having the same experience as you OP, down to the really dry forehead. I didn't know that was a side effect of finasteride but maybe it is?

Yes I've read that both dry and oily skin is a side effect. I had oily skin at first and then it changed to dry . Don't have that anymore though . So keep it positive and let the body adapt .

The dry skin is a good thing, before finasteride my forehead used to get oily, to the point where once a day I'd have to go to the bathroom and wipe it or else I'll have a little shine. I suspect that same oil was spreading throughout my scalp and causing pimples on it. Haven't run into this ever since my treatment with finasteride started
