Is there anyone who has suffered from the shedding which seems to accompany all these products and has NOT seen any regrowth? I am working under the assumptiong that it takes what...like half a year or so, maybe up to a year, to see some regrowth? Am I wrong in my perception? If one starts shedding, does that mean that one will still to regrow at some point in time??

maybe

Hi,

I've been taking propecia for 8 months, and i've been shedding nonstop. When I was looking very close my sclap in the mirror I couldn't see any "normal" hair popping out ! like if I couldn't grow back what I had lost !!! :freaked2: after 6 months I've begun to see tens of vellus hair popping at my temples, replacing what I have been loosing since starting propecia (so I can't call that a "real" regrowth). Yet my front doesn't respond (there are some vellus hair but they grow sooo slowly comparing to temples...maybe 3 mm in 2 months !).

Do you guys know in which area hair grow back when using propecia ?

peace
R.

Know I'm late to the party on this thread, but the same thing is happening with me. I've been shedding thick hair, having it come out every time I put my hand in my hair, in the shower, and just randomly falling and getting on my clothes. However, I haven't seen any regrowth which is pretty scary and I'm unsure what to do about it

What treatment have you been using and how LONG have you been on it? It is expected that shedding will occur at least initially for the first few months. You shouldn't expect regrowth at all until after 4 or maybe even 6 months of consistent and proper use.

No treatment, this has been happening to me for the last 1.5-2 years, and I'm really not sure what to do about it

From what I read and understand, it can take 3 months to a year for hair to start to repair. This is dependent on the cause of loss in the first place. Most people notice a change in 3 months with sticking to something though.

If you are shedding, that could be a sign of male pattern baldness. However, it could be another type of hair loss, so I would first go to a dermatologist to obtain a diagnosis. Supposing you do have male pattern baldness (I am not sure, but it's possible), then if you haven't been using any treatment, your hair thinning will progress and not stop. There will not be regrowth unless you are able to start one or more treatments, such as Minoxidil (Rogaine), finasteride (Propecia), and/or 2% ketoconazole shampoo, and use them indefinitely. But first I would go to a dermatologist or hair loss specialist to find out exactly what type of hair loss you have. Best of luck.
