Shedding necessary?

I'm probably going tp start with Proscar, but have one last question.The shedding period that occurs when using finasteride, If there isn't any shedding period, does that mean that the finasteride isn't working?

i've been shedding a lot..on my 3rd week on proscar. i just keep in my head that the hairs will grow back and that it is indeed only shedding. scary though..a lot more hair has been falling out then usual

Me too. I just started month 3 on finasteride. I'm a diffuse thinner, and over the past 3 months have lost a considerable amount of coverage presumably due to shedding. I think it has finally begun to stabilize. I almost freaked out and quit, that's when I stumbled upon this forum, and found out shedding is normal. Hang in there, always darkest before the dawn.
