I am really, really sad. I am into my 5th month on Propecia and nothing is happening. Everyone I know who has tried Propecia has said it helped them.
I have read a lot about shedding. I shed over 100 hairs each morning as I get ready. This has always been the case. I know I shed this much because I count the hair in my sink each morning after blow drying my hair. I blow dry my hair the exact same way each morning and at the same distance from the sink. Every morning it is consistent… 50-70 hairs. This does not include what falls on the floor, is on my towel when I dry by hair and what is lost in the shower.
I keep reading posts about “going through a shed.†I know Propecia causes shedding. But this same shedding has never changed. It is always the same. Is there anyone out there like me that always sheds the same? Is there anyone that has diffuse thinning and sheds consistently all the time? Anyone that Propecia started working for them in the 5-6 month mark?
I sort of feel like (after reading many posts) that most responders to Propecia start seeing results in 1-4 months. At least they see something. Like they noticed less hair falling our or they noticed the itching going away. Like I said, I am into my 5th month and nothing is changing. I lose the same amount of hair and I have the same crazy itch that I have had since this male pattern baldness started. I figure it is just not working and I am screwed. So sad. I see so few people that say Propecia started working for them magically 5-7 months into it
Please don’t tell me that everyone loses over 100 hairs a day. I can’t believe why people say this. Anyone that has rapid hair loss (AA) should know that it is not normal. I know when my male pattern baldness started. I know when the itch kicked in and when I started to see hair floating down out of my head. I had NONE of this a year and a half ago. No hair in the sink. I have lost half of my hair weight. I am sure I lose way more than 100 hairs a day – 100 is just in the morning.
I also know the itch comes from male pattern baldness and does not cause it. It is directly linked to it. My itch started right at the same time I noticed signs of male pattern baldness. Never had itch issues before. Did not change my shampoo routine. Doctors may not be able to say it because no studies have been done – but my insane itch (accompanied by what feels like little needle sticks in my scalp) comes from the same thing that is destroying my hair. Nizoral and T-Gel do nothing for me.
So, basically I am on the Big Three and nothing is changing. Not any little sign of anything.
Does anyone have personal stories or remember reading stories on this blog like the one I have? Anyone experience intense AA and take Propecia but only saw results 5-7 months into it? Also wish I could get some examples of NO success from Propecia but SOME success on Avodart. Seems like the only people that benefit from Avodart are the ones that have some success already on Propecia.
Help.
