Shedding. Help (new here)

I've been very very slowly losing my hair for about a year and a half now. I had my head shaved for 6 months just for the hell of it. Now it is grown out again and parted in the middle. You cant tell I'm losing my hair.(yet)

I've been shedding a lot of hairs in the shower recently. I guess this is what you call a "shed." I've never paid attention to how many hairs I've lost in the shower, until recently. I'm probably noticing the extra hairs in the shower now that I've grown my hair out (hairs are easier to see). But it seems like a lot.

My question(s) are:
1. How many hairs is it normal to lose a day for someone without male pattern baldness
2. How many hairs is it normal to lose in the shower for someone without male pattern baldness?
3. Is it normal to go through sheds around this time of year?

smeagol is not on any treatments precious. Does this online article still apply to us? We're shedding all over our head, not just in male pattern baldness areas. I've had plenty of health panel tests and blood work done and I'm in good health. I mean, "we're" in good health.

So non-male pattern baldness people shed just as much as us?

If you also have increased hairloss in areas that are not affected by male pattern baldness you should see your Doctor. Or ask Gandalf.

No, we don't have increased hairloss in non-male pattern baldness areas. We have the presence of shedding in non-male pattern baldness areas. We don't look thinner in non-male pattern baldness areas. But are still shedding. You see? You see? Smeagol has even had 3 thyroid tests that were normal

We hateses Gandalf.

What exactly is your problem? Your hair is OK. You just have the impression that too many hairs "shed". Right? There are several reasons. For example at this time of the year many experience increased "hairloss" like animals that change their coat. If it doesn't stop go to a dermatologist. We can't give professional help here online.

If you're noticing that it's thinning then it's male pattern baldness. Sounds like your a diffuse thinner like me. I have long hair and it started falling out just as you mentioned. In the beginning it seems like it's falling out evenly everywhere. It's only a matter of time to where it starts to become noticeable on just the top of your head.. At least that's what happened to me. It first became noticeable in the front then a couple years later in the back (vertex).

I'm not sure. He says that he also also thinning in "non-male pattern baldness" areas (neck, sides) !? There are other reasons people loose their hairs except male pattern baldness.
I'll name some of them: stress, no sufficient nutrition, a disease that changed the metabolism in any way, post-puberty hairloss,...

smeagol, what did your Doctor said about your hairloss ?

well no doubt that I am slowly thinning. Have been a while. It's more noticeable when my hair is short and spiky. Now that my hair is long and parted, you can't tell. However, I have never shed like this.

Seen 2 or 3 docs about my hair over the past 2 years. One said I wasnt losing any hair (my hair at the time was grown to my eyes and parted in the middle). The other two saw my hair when it was really short, so the thinning was more obvious. They said it looked normal.

Fast forward to present time, my hair hasnt looked better. Of course, I am still aware that I am thinning. No one else can tell. If I posted pictures you would think I was crazy. But since no one knows me better than me, I can tell. Natural thinning as I get older? Maybe

So in other words: Smeagol has been slowly thinning for around 2 years. But smeagol has never shed like this. I was in the hospital beginning of this month from a seizure. Lost a bit of weight while in the hospital a couple days. This past week I began lifting weights and taking protein shakes again (and vitamins).

I did forget to mention I'm on xanax 1mg a day. But that has never been an issue before.
Thanks

Please post pictures, because people still say I'm crazy, but I wanna see how far along you are in your loss. Coming from somebody who scrutinizes every single follicle on their head on a daily basis, I wanna see if you're about where I am right now. I'll bet I'd be able to tell, I'm just that picky about my own loss :p

Could you explain what a seizure is (Sorry) ?

Did you had an anesthesia there ? This can also cause increased hairloss (but fully reversible).

Antidepressants like xanax, as well as a medical trauma, will cause delayed shedding. You'll probably be okay.
