desperately in need of some hair loss wisdom- Im 22 years of age and waging war against the evil tyrant DHT that lives in my bloodstream- as it is causing my hairline to recede at both temples and thinning the hair in between. My armament consists of: Propecia (5months) / Nizoral 1x weekly / T-Gel (often!) I want to start rogaine but worry that it will worsen scalp conditions. I have always had fine hair and sensitive scalp but over the last two years ive suffered from an extremely sensitive flaky itchy scalp. I use only nizoral, T-Gel, and ocasionally some green shampoo my dermatologist gave me. Within 15 minutes after I get out of the shower my hairline is irritated and flaky. To ease the burning flesh sensation and resist clawing at my scalp Ill dunk me head in some cold cold water 2-3 times after a shower. (It really helps!!) The propecia seems to have made my hair loss and scalp irritation slightly better than it was 5 months ago, but I am mostly concerned with the condition of my scalp and hairline as I want to start rogaine asap! So now you know my situation if you have any advice or possible routine adjustments PLEASE post it I must regain control!
And because I am a total n00b here is a list of questions for you to answer!
a)Is it true that I cant use rogaine until ive been on propecia for 12 full months?
b)I understand that propecia stops DHT at the root of the problem, so would an antiandrogen or SOD be redundant?
c)Is a SOD like folligen or tricomin likely to irritate the scalp?
d)If I was not on propecia, could I just maintain my hair using rogaine alone for the rest of my days? (Not too sure about this propecia shtuff)
z)What kind of shampoo/lotion/moose urine/spray/methods have you personally had success with for soothing the scalp?
Any comments will be GREEEEAAAAAAAAAAATLy appreciated! Thank you
