Does anyone here own the Bowflex Selecttech dumbbells? They're pictured below, if you're not familiar. They're the adjustable dumbbells that can adjust from 5 to about 50 lbs.

The reason I'm asking is I'm thinking of getting dumbbells for my house and thought about getting these as they're probably cheaper than individual dumbbells and save a lot of space. Can anyone help??

I have them and really like them. The only drawback is they only go up to 52.5 lbs so you better have a bench, bar and weights for heavier lifts. Also you have to be very careful with the weights. You can't just go around dropping them on the floor like regular solid weights. You have to place them very carefully or you risk breaking them. Other than that, I love them and think they're a great. They're very easy to use, save lots of space and are extremely convenient!

Thanks for the response.

How long have you had them for? I definitely want them for the convenience and for the fact that they save so much room. The only reason I'm hesitant, however, is that I went to Sports Authority yesterday to look at some and the ones they had out on display were really beaten up and worn down, the plastic was even broken on one of them. The guy who worked there said they'd been out on display for a few months. I understand that it's probably from tons of people messing with them, but I'd rather invest in regular iron dumbbells if these are going to wear down and break eventually. Do you see some wear and tear in yours that leads you to believe they'll break eventually??

I've had them since early this year. I've had one problem with them so far. While I was using them, some of the weight plates slid off. I had no idea why this was happening. I called Bowflex and they had no idea why either but they sent me brand new handles for free and the weights have been fine ever since. I think the problem was that my brother and his friend began to use them around that time for a week when I wasn't around and they must have been tossing them on the floor and whatnot and some of the pieces must have broken off. Like I said in my first post, you have to be really delicate with these weights. You can not treat them like solid weights and toss them to the floor, etc.

I have a set, but have not used that them that much. They are pretty cool to use when I have used them.
