Second Time Around With Finasteride With Very Different Experience?

Hi, I restarted taking finasteride about three months ago after a three month break from taking it for roughly one year. I never had that fantastic of a result, maybe some regrowth, but not a lot, and I'm pretty sure I was maintaining what I had with very little shedding. The thing is, when I started the first time I never really had a shedding phase, I figured this was either because I had already had my shedding phase if you will as I had tried many thing before and was already using minoxidil, either that, or the meds weren't really working for me? This time however, I'm shedding like crazy! I have long hair so big clumps coming out looks even more devastating! I know I've gotta stick with it, I don't really know what I want any of you guys to say really? Maybe just if anyone else has had similar experiences or whether this is a good sign or a bad sign? I dunno? I can't sassy exactly how much I'm losing, but I would guess around the 100-200 hair mark at the moment (been like that for a couple of months I would say)? Any advice or comments of any kind would be welcome as I am currently glued to this f*****g site again!

Hi james227, I don't know for sure but I have read from multiple posts that the initial shed is a good thing because it means stronger thicker hairs will grow in to replace those hairs. Are you also on minoxidil? because if you are that would increase the shed.

Yeh, I've been using minoxidil for a few years now. I've also started taking biotin and using nizoral (both about three months ago). I've heard the shed is supposed to be a good sign. But the amount im shedding doesn't seem right if you know what I mean? My hair looks like straw and feels so brittle... and it's a mixture of hairs density wise that I'm losing as well which is alarming!
