Ever since I started Propecia 10 months ago my scalp in the crown and hairline region has started to feel extremely sensitive and irritated all of the time. The hairs in this area feel so weak that I have literally stopped touching and combing them for the last 5 months. When I am forced to touch my scalp while applying topicals, not only do I get a shitload of dark terminal hairs, but my scalp gets inflammed rapidly. I have been using the same topicals for years so I can't really blame them.

Have you guys ever experienced this? I envy the guys in this forum who can still run their fingers through their hair without feeling the cruel male pattern baldness scalp pain. I know that if I start running my fingers back and forth through my hair I'll have 200-400 hairs in no time.

If you're sure it's finasteride, why don't you quit it?

I am not 100 percent sure of anything. It could be Propecia or my male pattern baldness getting worse or some kind of food or drug sensitivity. The whole issue is that there is nothing left for me to "graduate" to after finasteride....it is/was the last ray of hope. There is no way I'm going to take dutasteride or Oral spironolactone and I refuse to give in and just shave it off. I am trying to find out if others have run into this particular issue and how they have dealt with it.

Add a shampoo that contains Piroctone Olamine to reduce scalp inflammation.

Pete is right, I would look for different shampoos...nizoral 2% did wonders for my scalp and I've heard only good things about neutrogena with Piroctone Olamine.(where available)

Mine has felt like crap since beginning Propecia. I've used Nixoral, T-Gel, and a prescribed steroid but all to no avail. I just learn to deal with it now :(.
