Hi Guys

I want to start taking Saw Palmetto - what would be the correct dose to take? The tablets are standardised 400mg each. Would I need more than this?

Thanks in advance.

Since we have no data as to the effectiveness of Saw Palmetto in the treatment of hair loss, and since we have no data to point to as far as how much was attempted (and shown to be ineffective) in the few trials that have been conducted... unfortunaely... this question is not answerable.

Its like asking how much vodka would it take to power a rocket to the moon. Not only would we assume it wont work based on established ineffectiveness in the past, but we definitely can not quantify how much would be needed... for it not to work.

If you are looking for an internal antiandrogen, use Propecia, which has over 10 years of clinical data to back both its effectiveness and the effect of varying doses on actual hair counts.

The point is, take as much or as little as you want, it won't matter. Taking saw palmetto doesn't grow hair.

I think your missing his point - as there are no studies on its effectiveness its pretty much impossible to say, '500mgs are the reccomended dosage'.

Although i'll probably get scorned for this, I had a look at Procerin's website and they say 1500MG a day.

what does sp do anyways ?
Saw palmetto fights BPH, which is benign enlargment of the prostate, which affects pretty much 100% of men as they get older. Because there is DHT in the prostate, and there is DHT in hair follicles, it is assumed that SP must reduce DHT in both places. That's like assuming that because there is oxygen in the atmosphere, and there is oxygen in water, that because you can breathe the atmosphere, you can breathe water.

Taking SP as a supplement once you hit 30 is a good idea. Taking it to fight hairloss is a fool's errand.

take 2 capsules it cant hurt--or just read the directions on the back of your bottle lol--not to be a smart ***----you may wanna get liquid saw palmetto---after taking the capsules for a few months and hearing all this shizznitt that it doesnt do anything to the dht in your body, only in the prostate, im gonna add it as a topical---we know that it definitely fights dht in the prostate--so if we applied it to the scalp--theres a greater likelihood that it will affect the dht on the scalp--which is where it matters--im gonna continue taking the capsules (as mine also include other potential anti androgens like zinc and pumpkin seed oil and pygeum) along with using it topically for an hour in the morning or right before i go to bed and the minoxidil has dried---ive made awesome progress for someone who was in an extremely bad state of severe hair loss ( in other words my hair still doesnt look good but compared to 4 months ago it looks great)-i wish i had photos, but i dunno if this can be attributed to the saw palmetto and other potential anti-androgens in these capsules i take--im inclined to think its from the precombined minoxidil/retin-a formula my derm prescribed and using nizoral 3 times a week--but look at it this way--it cant hurt, it can only help-definitely use it only as a supplement and not the cornerstone to your treatment
