In this study, we uncover a novel function of Rspo1 distinct from its previously reported role in stem cell regulation. We provide evidence that Rspo1 promotes ERα (Esr1) expression in luminal cells of the mammary gland. This action of Rspo1 is through activating G-protein coupled cAMP/PKA pathway, while independent of Wnt/β-catenin signaling.

It would be interesting to test this in hair follicles as well.
