Rogaine Making Me Bald Faster After Restarting Regular Use?

I'm wondering if Rogaine is making me bald faster. I've been on it for a decade now and can't say whether it helped or not. So I got tired of the greasy hair a few years ago and cut back from twice a day to once a day. And then I didn't even use it some days, so I was using it an average of about three or four days a week, once a day.

And two and a half weeks ago I started using it almost everyday, once a day. And I am noticing terrifying shedding. 30 or or 40 hairs a day - which isn't much compared to how much some people lose, but with as little hair as I have, this is producing noticeable thinning. So much so that if this goes on for a few more weeks (say 4 to 8), I might consider shaving my head.

Anyone had similar experiences? Do you guys think I should stay on Rogaine, or finally bid it adieu after a decade? Would going off it make it even worse because of Rogaine dependence?

I am new to rogain, but if my research holds true, this would be normal. Just use it once or twice a day (whichever suites your hair needs best) and you will just be restarting that process of loss and regain then holding all those new hairs while using rogain. Sounds to me that due to the inconsistency of your use, it stopped working to its full potential and was probably. It is said you will have hair loss for about 2 to 3 weeks when using this correctly. Also, your hair loss would not go back to where it left off until a few months later, so if you notice it back where you started already, I would say your inconsistent use was a waste of time. I trust you did your research about these basics too. I am not going off of experience, I am going off of what has been said so do not take my words for it.

I would say that your inconsistent use, then change back to regular use triggered your shed.
