Rogaine help please

I'm in need of a bit of advice. I've been doing the propecia/rogaine/occasional nizoral thing: propecia for about nine months, rogaine 5% foam for about six, and nizoral off and on throughout. My crown area looks pretty good, but in the front I seem to have gone from a nw1 to a nw2 rather quickly.
I've been primarily using rogaine on the hairline. I see some vellus hairs in the middle, which could either mean that it's helping or slowly killing the follicles. The corners are almost definitely getting worse. I can't say for sure, but i have a funny feeling that this may accelerated in the past six months since I added rogaine to the mix.
I'm on the fence about quitting the rogaine and hoping that whatever hairline hair it got rid of coming back, or if I should stick with it because it hasn't been quite long enough and I may start seeing results soon. Any help or advice would be very much appreciated.

do you say that for any particular reason? is it because the foam is too strong or because it's more irritative?

or, is there anything else you recommend?

I really hate to bump again, but the only reply was vague and without endorsement. What might switching to liquid do?
Or could the foam actually be damaging my hairline? Permanently, or is it partly salvageable?

It looks like you have the same problem as me getting support. I hate it when people leave you hanging like this, when you want answers an experiences.

I'm thinking about starting the rogaine foam. I'm currently what I judge as a NW1, but I feel due to the level of thinning from my temples will become NW2 in the coming year or so. Which I feel uneasy about. I don't want to worsen my hairline with minoxidil, and this is what I'm also trying to find out. Just people glance at forum posts and leave nothing.
Such a waste.

Theres no reason why the foam would speed up your hair loss. I ve had good results with it on the hairline, I dont understand why enden would suggest switching to the liquid, Ive used both and the results are the same for me.

My hair is just coarse, and I don't wear it back or up, so it's hard to tell exactly, but i do see a little thinning on the hairline that's new the last couple months, but like you said i thought (and hoped) it may be the foam sort of synced up the resting phases and it's in a period where a lot of the follicles are resting.
It would sort of make sense, since although I use it all over, I do tend to concentrate the foam and rubbing it on on the hairline and temple region.

The first replier should have got back to you. He's made a stupid comment really with no back up.

Clinical studies show the foam is more successful than liquid if you respond well..

Yeah been afraid to try the Rogaine foam on my temples, which are receding. I read on the forum that handling Rogaine can cause unwanted hair growth on the fingers??? And dark circles around the eyes.

i switched to liquid about a month ago, just to try it out because it's cheaper and the foam was irritating my scalp a little. I got the generic Target brand Up & Up, but
a) it's irritating and itchy even more than the foam
b) i'm finding it's trickier to rub in/distribute and
c) the sides of my hairline have gotten slightly noticeably worse in the last month

so i think i may go back to the rogaine foam. it's really not too bad, since you can get three months' worth for a little under $50

or maybe i should give it up for a while altogether and stick with just propecia, see if there's a difference, because on the hairline there are those vellous hairs, but instead of being new, they're where full hair used to be. a break from rogaine might prove that it was needlessly irritating some of the hair out. or maybe that's just wishful thinking. does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I don't take minoxidil. but if you get irritation from both, have you tried looking at a PPG free solution that is liquid? Maybe you're slightly allergic to that. I've heard it's suppoed to be one of the main culprits for irretating the scalp.

http://www.minoxidilmax.com/product_html/minoxidil_without propylene_glycol.html that's one I've been looking at recently, I consider it pretty damn cheap to be fair. It's not dirt cheap, but it's not like your paying for the name either, so it must be reasonable quality stuff. Try a months worth of that?

Theres also a solution on there that is $1 cheaper which is PPG and contains only 5% minoxidil without the Azelaic acid, but you may aswel pay the extra buck and get the extra eh? :p

Not sure how helpful it will be but I've been on Rogaine foam for 7 months, using it only in the hairline. I have had no regrowth and have lost a fair amount of hair.

Maybe it was the shed and it will grow back, but I'm considering not using it after I run out of my last bottle because it's done more harm than good thus far.

Have you been using it once a day? I hear it takes longer to see results from minoxidil. when taking using it once. Though, I would have thought you'd seen results by 7 months! Maybe try another solution, or switch to the liquid, to find out if it's the minoxidil. that isn't effective, or if it's the solution that isn't working for you.

Yeah, I've thought about switching to liquid to give it a shot but I've heard it's more difficult to apply. I use it twice a day, only in the front and then I apply S5 after it has dried, also twice a day.

I'm close to just dropping it, it's only made more hair fall out and hasn't caused any regrowth.

I know it doesn't work for everybody, I just didn't think it would increase hair loss if you weren't one of the people it worked for. I just assumed no effect. I thought the shedding was a good sign, that it was working. But now I don't think so.

how long have you been using it for? cant a shed last up to like a month or something?

also, personally thinking about it in my case I think the liquid would be easier for me. since I have long hair (13-17cm) the foam would be a nightmare to actually get onto my scalp and a dropper would be pretty easy i think. It's supposed to spread out anyways.
