I am using Rogain, the liquid formula that I spray on my head. Which is more effective the foam or the liquid?

hard to say......

some say the liquid is more effective because it takes longer to "dry"
meaning more exposure to minoxidil

although the foam is very convenient because you can apply and wait 10 min and it doesn't look like a greasy mess

some people including myself use the liquid at night and foam during the day
possibly the best of both worlds

Do I have to rubb in the liquid or just spray it on my head, making sure it doesn't all go in the hair of course?

usually liquid min is applied via a dropper

it looks like a eye dropper

and with using the dropper you can allow the min to get on the scalp with very little absorbing into your hair

I can use they sprayer and get it all on my scalp not the hairs. The question is, should I rub it into the scalp?

I've had MUCH better results form the foam, I use it hairline to crown and have had growth all over

Even the makers of rogaine state it works better than the liquid

the makers of rogaine say the foam is better than the liquid because they have the patient on the foam

generic versions of the liquid are available

your opinions of the foam being better is subjective

I rub it a little bit in personally, for about 15-20 seconds. And I mean massaging the scalp.

Dr. Lee's ''Directions/Read More...''[/url]]In solution form, it is the alcohol that allows for penetration of minoxidil into the scalp, so massaging the scalp has no appreciable additional benefit. Even though the minoxidil may not be evenly distributed on the scalp, there is sufficient diffusion in the layers under the surface of the skin to allow for effective coverage.

Maybe this helps..
