Hey guys it's been awhile.

Just wanted to stop in and update anyone who remembers my story.

Basically I was an nw2 heading fast to a nw3, hopped on finasteride, minoxidil and in 9 months my hair was a solid nw2.

I eventually got terrible sides, ed, watery semen, testicular pain, fatigue. I stopped finasteride at that point and went on RU plus min. My hair held about 3 months and then in slowly lost ground. My sides were still hanging around and I had regular hormone tests showing my T was still very low and my E very high. I thought maybe ru was hurting my hormones also so I quit. My hair got a bit worse after being just on Rogaine foam alone for 2 months. Here's where things get interesting.

Ever since then, 13 months ago I have fully recovered from all sides. It was a long process of slow improvements but I'm happy to say it did pass.

Now to why I stopped posting.

I started hydrocortisone 1% on my scalp once a day 10 months ago and swapped Rogaine foam to liquid and use way more than I did the foam, 4ml or so a night. After about 3 months I had massive regrowth in my temple corners and it's continuing. The hydrocortisone cream stops ALL of the itching and redness and I found out Upjohn, makers or Rogaine did a study showing hydrocortisone with 3% minoxidil virtually eliminated hair loss and had markedly more regrowth than either alone.

If you can't take finasteride I'd highly highly recommend hydrocortisone 1% once a day for 3 weeks and one week off (repeat) and LIQUID minoxidil.

My hair is better than it was the day I started worrying about it 4 years ago and I couldn't be happier so I really never bother with looking up hair stuff anymore or coming to forums. I was bored today after seeing this forum email update me and figured I'd update you guys.

I won't be back for a long time again because I'm enjoying my life, cheers guys and best of luck.

Edit: here is the study that made me decide to try it out, so glad I did.

One more edit: 0 sides at all from this regimen.

Edited to add study, and yes never again finasteride. I was definitely humbled.

did you do anything to get rid of your sides like hitting the gym or changing your diet? or was it just time?

Nope, they just eventually subsided. Slowly got morning wood back after 6 months then another 3 months for my old libido.

I've tried that damn drug 3 times, sh*t is poison. I always felt less a man on it.

are you just using generic over the counter hydrocortisone cream?

Man, I remember being on finasteride trying to convince myself it was safe and the sides would pass. I'm really so glad to be over that nightmare. My wife has been with me and supported me through all of this mess and I'm so thankful for her.

I'll tell you guys one thing for sure though, weak erections and no libido bothered her waaaaay more than my hair at its worst ever did, she hated that drug.

But the best part about hydrocortisone cream is you know for sure it's helping because it DESTROYS THAT f*****g INCESSANT ITCH.

Been itch free since a week into using it.

Yep, generic 1%, noticed photo visible growth in around 3 months

it doesn't mess up your scalp skin at all? does it make your hair greasy? i've wanted to try this, but these two factors would be terrible.

My dermatologist said skin thinning is way way overblown with hydrocortisone and that's it's a weak immunosuppressant. And yes it makes it greasy that's why I do it and min before bed and wash it out when I wake up with nizoral.

since i wash my hair every other day, what if I applied it EOD a few hours before I wash my hair so it absorbs into the scalp? I might try this. I am wayyyy to thin to have greasy hair. plus, I use dermmatch.

Too lazy to track my old photos but they're on this site somewhere. My hairline has become straight from my part with extra new fuzz and looks strong. I'm very very very happy with it now. Also my age is 29

I was a nw3v before starting, solid nw2 now and no itching or weak looking hairs in my old weak spots (temple corners)

how long have you been balding for?

has it been slow progression or is it quite recent and aggressive?

Yeah that works, it only takes 40 min or so to fully dry and absorb

I'm on board. thanks. I am going to pick some up today and start using on temples and hair line, where my inflammation is unbearable. I'll keep you posted. :)
