Responding to minoxidil!

I've been on Minoxidil now for 5 weeks and I am seeing new hair growing/thickening and hair developing inside the follicle. :)

I'm also using nizoral every 3 days.

The only side effects I have got from the Minoxidil have been a headache during the first week of application and dark areas under my eyes showing more. As minoxidil increases blood flow this explains the circles under the eyes, not a problem and I'm sure it will get better if I stopped the treatment.

I'll try and post a picture up later, I know it's early days but I seem to be responding really well to the treatment.

I recently bought finasteride online to try and tackle my hairloss with the big 3. After researching it extensively though I've decided to not take it.

I understand from a few posts that minoxidil will not maintain my hair even though on the regaine packaging it states "Stops further hair loss"? Is there anything else I can add apart from finasteride to help maintain?

Cheers!

I'm also on Regaine and Nizoral thats brilliant to hear. I have also heard that it doesn't maintain hair that well which is why im looking for anoher anti androgen such as keto or spironolactone, might be worth looking in to.

Study evidence shows that minoxidil growth results will peak at about the 12-13month mark at which point the rate of male pattern baldness catches up with the speed of the minoxidil growth and your hairline will slowly, slowly begin receding again.

Both of you should really at least try finasteride if you're serious about maintaining your current hairline, as the minoxidil nizoral regimen will still see you lose it, albeit at a much slower rate.

I'm not convinced that spironolactone is indeed particularly safe or potent enough to stop hairline recession.

I heard a similar thing regarding minoxidil working then slowly losing it's effectiveness. It just seems illogical how minoxidil can have such a powerful effect to actually REGROW hair even while DHT is still attacking the follicle then gradually stop working?

I've looked into RU today and got a quote, $350 for 10g (£218.68). It seems very expensive and I've not really seen any evidence that it even works.

I might give Topical spironolactone a try, but I've also heard of people experiencing side effects of low T even though apparently it doesn't have any systemic effects.

Primo I see with your regime that you quit finasteride after having side effects? What kind of side effects did you experience? Would 0.25mg a day be worth trying? I have 30 Finpecia tablets sitting next to me now so if I did divide them up that would last me 4 months.
