Regimen Advice to Maintain Temples

Hi everyone.

It looks like I'm experiencing some male pattern baldness. My brother is 7 years older than me and has a receding hairline and a bit of a bald spot. So far all I have is some receding in the temple area. It's not cosmetically significant yet but I want to try to stop it.

I was on Propecia for the past two months but unfortunately I had to quite due to sides. It looks like I was responding to it so it's quite unfortunate that I had to stop.

So now I'm wondering if there's anything out there I should try as an alternative to Propecia that won't mess around with my hormones. Rogaine doesn't seem like it's going to help because I basically just want to maintain.

Is there anything I can do? I've been reading a bit about Proxiphen and Nano. Are those my best options? Will that help me maintain?

I understand there might not be a solution without Propecia, but just wanted to see if people could help me out. Thanks in advance!

I had some pretty bad anxiety and depression. No sexual side effects oddly enough. Of course these side effects could be completely unrelated to Propecia, but they happened out of the blue 2 months into my treatment and completely went away 10 days after stopping.

Unfortunately the side effects were just too well correlated with the Propecia for me to go back on it. I have heard of other people having similar side effects and even if it was a placebo effect, there's no reason why it won't happen again if I go back on. I'd just rather not have that stuff in my body again.

Why don't you consider the possibilty that your anxiety and depression may have been caused by a placebo effect. There is no reason that finasteride would cause these side effects, finasteride works by hindering the enzyme 5 alpha reductase which is the enzyme responsible for testosterones conversion into dht this enzyme serves no other purpose and plays no known role in neurotransmiters which are resposible for emotional wellbeing. You may have been experiancing anxiety and deppresion for other reasons. you shouldn't preclude that finasteride is the cause for these without first seeking the opinion of a medical professional.

So I guess the claimed "brain fog" is a placebo effect too? People like you make be sick, propecia is a very strong drug and DHT plays a more important role in the male body then just attacking the hair follicle. You can keep on taking your finasteride and hope you're not inducing any long term damage on yourself but, for some people we actually realize that inhibiting a natural hormonal process is not a smart route.

BTW go tell the people over at p r o p e c i a h e l p . c o m that their mental side effects are all in their head. I'm sure they would love to hear from you.

What about taking Propecia every other day? Have people tried that? I ask because I really did have a great experience with Propecia. After 2 months I saw a definite change in my hairline.

Is there a danger with cutting the pills? I know it says that women shouldn't handle broken pills. I don't want to expose any of my female friends to any dangers.

Also, has anyone noticed any increased incidences of side effects for people that are thinner? I'm very thin and was wondering if the Propecia had a bigger effect on me because of this.
