Hi All,

I have, in the past few days, started using Regaine Foam 5% purchased in the UK from Boots.

I am also using nizoral Shampoo 2% (it seems the 1% version is hard to buy in the UK).

Various questions about Regaine and minoxidil:

- Directions state apply twice a day but wait at least 12 hours between applications. How strict should one be about this?

- I read that minoxidil has a 22 hour half life and therefore should be applied at least once every 22 hours. Is this true?

- Is there a danger of applying in a period less than 12 hours?

- I squirt little bits of the foam directly onto my scalp as squirting into my hands then trying to apply didn't work for me. Not enough got through the (little) hair I have and it melted in my hands. This should be ok right?

- It states apply no more than the volume of half a cap. This isn't that much, I'm probably applying a bit more, is this a problem?

- Side effects; aside from those mentioned on the product, I've read of some nasty sounding side effects; swelling face, ear ringing, heart problems. These sound pretty bad, how at risk am I?

- The product states don't use over the age of 49 (I'm in my early 30s). Why is that? Is it a health risk? or simply it doesn't work?

- What can I expect on Regaine? I've read some people get results then lose them over time (without Propecia). Is this generally what happens?

Thank you

As for the melting. Dont the bottle tell you to hold yor hands under cold water a bit, then dry em and apply? That way it wont melt so fast

Results may vary. Some get great regrowth, some see little results. Best is to use both finasteride and minoxidil. It's best to use it every 12 hours but you can also apply twice with less time in between. The halflife is not 22 hours as some say. If that would be the case then there would not be much need for applying it two times in 24 hours. Most think that minoxidil halflife is more in the 8 hours range. I use 2 ml per application. ( I liquify the foam before applying ) If you don't get any sideeffects then there's no problem in doing so. Many use more then half a cap of foam per application and don't get any sideeffects.
Trying to apply the foam to the scalp can be real messy. Most of the foam ends up in your hair, not on your scalp. Here's what I do to end this problem;
first I fill a drinkingglass with really hot water. Then a fill the cap that comes with the foam, with foam. I hold the cap in the glass with hot water (make sure no water comes into the cap ) this makes the foam melt and become liquid. Then I put some more foam in the cap and repeat the process. I then soak up the liquid with an eyedropper and can easily apply to the scalp. You keep the all the benefits that's the foam supposed to have over normal liquid rogaine but applying it this way is much easier. Hope this helps.
