Ok, I've been taking the extra strength regaine (spray kind) for a month now to combat a rapidly receding hairline. But if anything it's making the hair loss worse. I know a side effect is increased hair loss but how long does this last for? Is a month too long?

I guess what I'm really asking is should I carry on and hope or give up? And if I do give up is there anything else I can take? It's really only a receding hairline I have, the rest of my hair is thick. I'm 25. i hate it!!!

Anybody???

I'm not sure whether to use it tonight. If it is doing more harm than good then I want to know so I can stop. Any advice?

how long you've been on Rogaine?
It takes around 4-6 months to see results.

Only a month. I'm not expecting to see hair regrowth yet. Not really anyway though I was kinda hoping. But I was just worried that the rogaine was causing more hair loss than before.

Im thinking a few more weeks? Maybe see if the receding continues? After that I might give up.

Maybe I should just shave my head before it becomes noticeable. I really dont want to though. Don't think it will suit me at all.

Remember that while using Rogaine u will shed a lot of hair before you regrow anything. SO at the beggining of using Rogaine the things that you said seem normal. That means most likely you will get nice regrow. Stick with it and keep us posted.

Ok, will do.

One thing - is is ok to use the regaine with oxytetracycline (antibiotic taken for acne)?

I ask because recently I've developed redness in my face and I flush a lot. This has started about the same time as I started using the regaine. Do you think it could be linked? Anybody?

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think there would be any interaction between oxytetracycline and minoxidil unless you are taking some heart meds.

Shedding 2-3 weeks in minoxidil treatment is a very good sign. You are obviously responding.

Unfortunately many of the good responders get scared and stop. Or try using less. Or blow dry their hair after application. Or dilute with a little water. Or skip an app or two. Or X (where X is any action indicative of compulsive stupidity).

Funny you should say that, that's exactly what I've been thinking of doing - cutting down to one app a day I mean. :)

But you reckon just stick with it?

My only worry is that I'm not sure if Ive been leaving tewlve hours every time between apps. I mean I havent been doing anything stupid or anything but sometimes it may juts be like ten hours or whatever. Do you think this is playing a part in the hair loss?

I don't think its affecting the affectivened of minoxidil as long as you use it twice a day, morning and night.
I'm using minoxidil once a day and I get nice results.
Be patient.

Keep hitting your scalp with 1ml twice daily imo. Do not worry if the apps are not between 12 hour intervals. Do not change a thing in your regimen, unless you get unbearable side effects- if you are serious about regrowth that is.

Shedding 1 month in is not a side effect, it's something to be expected. Your follicles are obviously drooling over their new booze and need to open a bigger mouth. Give them time to do so.

Ok, will do. Though since I started using the regaine my hairline is really going crazy. It's like day by day it's getting worse. I keep thinking I'm seeing some regrowth, wispy small hairs, but I think actually that's just minaturization. But I'll do what you suggest - I'll keep going. Really don't want to lose my hair.

What kind of severe side effects can you get? All I'm getting, I think anyway, is peeling scalp where I'm using the spray. that's nothing, can handle that.

Ok, Ive spent the last hour or so reading some of the stuff on these forums. Ive noticed a lot of mentions of propecia and nizoral. Ive read that propecia works on crown and for thinning but not for a receding hairline? Is this true? If so then I guess there's no point me getting any? It's only my hairline that's going at the moment.

If not propecia then is there anything else I should be trying, in addition to the regaine, to if not regrow then at least keep my hair?

A couple of other things: I've read some mentions of sebum but I haven't worked out if hair loss is linked to excess sebum or a defficiency? I'm curious coz Ive been taking oxytetralcycline for about a year now for acne and that might have affected my sebum levels. What do you think?

And lastly, I guess Ive been using regaine for just over a month now. Nothing so far, just a drastically receding hairline. Maybe a shed, I'm not sure. Hope so. Anyway, the leaflet says that a bottle of the spray will last for a month but Ive been using it for that long and Ive still got a fair amount of liquid left. I actually thought I was using too much but maybe not, what do you think?

Oh, also, are you supposed to massage the liquid into the scalp or is it on the hair that you want the liquid? I normally just spray and let it absorb by itself. Is this wrong?

Thanks.
