What are the best available shampoo's for thinning hair? Right now I am using Revivogen but I see most of the people in this forum use tricomin and nizoral. Are they better than Revivogen? So far I am just thinning and I just want a good shampoo to stop thinning.

Has anyone used ThymuSkin Shampoo? They claim to regrow hair

escription:

(1) ThymuSkin Shampoo 100 ml The shampoo cleanses the scalp with tiny penetrating thymus peptides which diffuse themselves into the hair follicles and clean out each follicle and prepare the scalp for the treatment lotion to help stimulate new hair growth. Please note - if you are ordering this product for the first time, the shampoo and hair treatment work synergistically and should be purchased together. This product lasts approximately 6-8 weeks.

Bryan,

If I might ask, what would be the big differences between the two, other then price? One goes for around double the cost of the other, yet appear to help in the same areas (thinning prevenention, dandruff, etc). Btw, I'm not worried about stylability or anything like that, as I use a #2 clip. Strictly performance based, do you believe one of these products is more effective then the other? Or is that asking too much :)

Any help would be apprecitaed, thanks in advance!

Great question.

Bryan, do you think NANO really has enough backing to call it a bonified thinning hair/hairloss treatment?

I previously used revivoigen bioclensing shampoo (black bottle) and it was freaking amazing, exellent for makng hair look thick.

I recently ran out and decided to try nizoral and t-gel, my hair feels good but no where near as good as it did with the revivogen shampoo

I can stand for NANO. Surely thickens the hair the day I apply it. I dont know about the long term benefits.

That said whenever I apply NANO I have extra hairfall that day, while applying, combing blah blah...I have done extensive comparison and I am pretty sure NANO causes more hairfall.

I have also found Jasons thick and thin to be good. It guarantees 10% thickness the first time you apply it and then gradual increase.

The big difference between the two is how they work. NANO shampoo contains the minoxidil-like growth stimulant NANO, plus a SOD. Nizoral shampoo evidently works by some other unknown mechanism, but my own feeling is that it's most likely the antiandrogenic property of ketoconazole.

Because they DO work by such different mechanisms, I think it's obvious that the best choice of all would be to use both of the shampoos in rotation.

That's asking too much! :) I really don't know. But my wild guess is that maybe the difference between Nizoral shampoo and NANO shampoo is like the difference between Propecia and Rogaine: the first one is more effective in the long-term, whereas the second one is more effective in the short-term.

It doesn't have any backing AT ALL, if you're referring to published scientific material. The only backing it has is Dr. Proctor's own word for it, and he quite emphatically states that it has similar growth-stimulating effects as minoxidil. Because I've used his products and I have serious evidence of my own that they do in fact work, I have no reason whatsoever to doubt his claims for NANO. NANO plays a large part in all of his formulations.

Thank you, Bryan, for the post. I've seen you write some other posts about Dr. Proctor's products, mentioning the trust factor between you two.

I was unaware that NANO had no backing whatsoever.

I been on revivogen for about 3 months now and its crazy . I have to say my hair is 50% thicker than 3 months. Never tried Nano or Nizoral just curious why so many people use Nizoral and Nano instead. My father and uncles and some of my cousins are bald. I still feel I need more than shampoo to *maintain* my hair... any good products for just maintenance?

Thanks for the imput Byran..

I currently use T-Gel and I'm looking for a little boost :) Will probably give both a try, as you suggested and take it from there.

I'm wondering if anyone's tried Nioxin products? I experimented with them in my early 20's (ex was a hair-dresser and suggested it). I was in the middle of a massive shed and since this didn't cause immediate gratification I hoped off it. Fortunately for me, my patience has gotten better over the years LOL..

Nioxin 1 Biocleansing Shampoo

I absolutely loved it.

A bit pricery ($35 for a large bottle), but well worth it.

Thickens the hair and destroys all itching.

I'll pick up another bottle soon.

Are there any non-fancy pants shampoos about which are commercially available any more? I used to use L'Oreal revivogen thickening for men, but they seem to have discontinued that, and the other stuff on the market doesn't really cut the mustard, i.e. stuff that says (gives the appearance of thicker hair). This is bullshit. I don't need volume, I need something that'll thicken the individual strands.

The only thing that has evidence of thickening the individual strands is nizoral.

NANO would also do this (already discussed proof of effectiveness aside) as it is primarily for "coarsening what you have" not regrowing hair.

So i have to second bryan's post - nizoral and nano seem like the best bet for actual thickening.

However, i think Jason's Thin-to-Thick works by using a beta-hydroxy or something to help the follicles remain unblocked, so it might actually work by allowing the strands to become thicker again, not just cosmetically. Im certainly not sure of this though....

Those are the three in my regimen - NANO, 2% Nizoral and Jason's Thin to Thick. Rotating them on a daily basis, I use each of them every 3rd day, or 2.3 times per week. Works for me - along with 5% Minoxidil twice daily and Finpecia.
