Dear HairlossTalk Members:

We have begun another step in the process of improving the HairlossTalk Community. Maturing it. Making more like the "Medical Information & Support" forum that it was intended to be.

I am sure that many of you are participants on other forums that range from sports to bodybuilding to cars. Each forum has a personality and a "tone". Forums that are centered on health issues are significantly more serious, however. We have affiliates that run communities on everything from Heart Disease to HIV and AIDS. They have very heavy moderation.

99% of this forum is a great community of contributing members, and we thank you for that. However, we are going to be a lot more careful of the content that is posted here - especially in the off topic area. There is a whole world of members that most of you never hear from - our Female members, and older members. They don't participate in the off topic area because its been full of many off color topics and posts. While I realize a lot of you have interesting personalities, this is a medical information site. Discussions need to contribute to that end.

The Off Topic Section

We have recently put into place new guidelines for the Off Topic Section, in an attempt to steer the conversation more to a productive content. Posts in the off topic area will no longer increase your post count, nor your ranking. This is a common practice across many web forums. We have instituted a policy to no longer discuss "Religion" topics as insults outweighed intelligent questioning and discussion by nearly 10 to 1. We also expect posts to be on topic, relevant, and useful to whatever discussion is at hand. We aren't trying to ruin the fun. We are only interested in making things a little less offensive, and making topics - even fun ones - relevant and useful.

If you have any comments or questions regarding this post, PM me.
