I haven't been on these boards in a long time so I don't remember precisely, but suffice it to say, shedding is a good sign. Your hair is constantly in a staggered pattern of growth and shedding. IIRC, dutasteride and propecia synchronize the shedding period before stimulating the hair back into growth/renewal.

Cliffs: shedding, then growth.
