I was an active lurker here about 3-4 years ago when I first started shedding hair. I hopped on Finasteride pretty early after noticing hair loss and was able to pretty much hold on and decrease shedding for the next 3 years, nobody was able to notice I was losing hair or thinning. This past summer, I got diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis, where I lost about 50 pounds in 3 weeks, due to me pretty much crapping out everything I ate within minutes. I was prescribed Prednisone and Mesalazine in July, to help with the symptoms. Although everything is fine now, I have started to lose a ton of hair within the last 3 weeks. I did some research and found that a lot of people report hairless with Mesalazine, as well as post Colitis, due to Telogen Effluvium. Losing 50 pounds in 3 weeks is pretty bad, so I'm not sure if my body is shedding hair because of the shock, because of the meds, or simply because finasteride started working. Anyone have any thoughts or any info on this?
