Quitting Minoxidil Question

I have been on a maintenance dose of Rogaine Foam 1x per day for around 18 months. I went to this dosage based on the thought that minoxidil has a 22 hour half-life, and I am not certain that I ever saw any benefits from the drug anyway at 2x per day.

Nevertheless, my hair has maintained or become slightly worse in the meantime, depending on the month of observance. As a result, I increased my dosage of Finasteride to 2.5 mg with the 1x per day dosage of Rogaine Foam.

This seems to have stabilized things after cutting back to 1x per day on the Rogaine Foam.

However, I have discovered that SMP (scalp micropigmentation) fades when applying Rogaine Foam. Thus, I am quitting Rogaine Foam altogether to protect the SMP.

What kind of shed or loss can I expect, considering I was NOT sure minoxidil worked for me in the first place and considering the fact that I have been on a 1x per day maintenance dosage of minoxidil for over a year?

Thanks for any thoughts!

Thanks for the replies.

I am wondering if I made an error in judgment by assuming that Finasteride losing its effectiveness 1.25 mg per day was the cause of my perceived additional loss when it was really the decrease of Minoxidil down from 2x to 1x per day. Maybe I mistakenly went to 2.5 mg Finasteride for no reason.

Either way, since I was already on a reduced dosage of Minoxidil at 1x per day, I am hoping the shed or permanent loss will be minimal after fully stopping.

I guess I will find out soon. I have been off of Minoxidil for 2 months now.

I don't think I can do anything that will NOT harm my micropigments.

Originally, went from 2x per day to 1x per day on the Minoxidil because it did not improve things over the years and wasn't even sure it was maintaining.

Then, after going down to 1x per day on Minoxidil over the next 18 months, I maybe lost more, so I perhaps (believing in the 22 hour half-life and 1x per day of dosage of Minoxidil being just effective) wrongly decided to up Finasteride dosage from 1.25 to 2.5 mg per day because I figured it was losing its effectiveness after 4 years.

Now, I am just hoping I was right and Minoxidil never worked for me. If not, I am hoping that being on 1x per day dosage for over a year will lessen any permanent loss after quitting.

Hi.

I'm using Kirkland since Mei 2011.

Just to confirm with you guys.

I have frontal baldness.

Let say minoxidil is working for me.
It fulls up the hair from the back to front?
Not from the front to the back?
