is it pointless being on both at the same time??? People seem to pick either one or the other, i suppose it would be 2x the chances of side effects to some??

finasteride at 1mg blocks about 65% (give or take) of DHT.

dutasteride at .5mg blocks about 80% (give or take) of DHT.

Therefore, it's pointless to take both of them at the same time. Kind of like how you wouldn't take Advil and Tylenol at the same to for a headache.

that makes total sense, so now does that mean dutasteride is better? when did people start using it?

It depends on how much DHT you need to block to help your hair. Some people on here take only .5 mg of finasteride and have excellent success. Others feel the need to take more than 1mg, and some people have to take dutasteride because finasteride does nothing to help them.

For almost anyone, finasteride is all you need. I wouldn't try Dutasteride unless you just aren't having success with finasteride.

what he said, yeah i would try the least that works the best. I'm doing spironolactone (Im a girl) with topicals now. When it gets worse, I'm trying the lowest dose of finasteride..then a higher dose of finasteride, then dutasteride, then..you get the picture.

Uh...I thought I could use it as long as I don't plan to get pregnant anytime soon. At least that's what I thought. :band:
