Questions on Minoxidil Application to Crown and Temples

Hi all! I started finasteride around 9 months ago, and have seen a halting (at least I believe so) in my hair loss. I have also recently started using Minoxidil 1mg twice a day, applying the topical solution to my crown and around my scalp, and the foam to my temples and hairline. My questions are:

1. I take 1mg of the topical solution in the dropper provided and dab it around my entire head, not just to the most noticeably thinning part, the crown of the scalp. Should I just localize the liquid to that area, or keep dabbing around the entire scalp as a preventative measure?

2. When I apply the foam to my temple/frontal hairline, I generally create a small band of foam approx. 1/3 an inch width going along the receding hairline all the way to where it meets my sideburns at my temples, and then rub it into the hairline. Is this the correct way to do it, or just I just apply a dollop, so to speak, at that meeting point at my temples?

Thanks for any help on this! Best of luck to anyone else in my situation!

1) Apply minoxidil to the areas where you are thinning and want to achieve regrowth. Other areas are not worth it for preventative measures because Finasteride will hold on to that hair. Your aim is to strengthen the hair on the thin spots and or achieve regrowth. Those hairs will then be minoxidil-dependent even if you're on Finasteride. So for instance, in my case, I apply minoxidil to the temples and forelock as well as some places around the vertex where I have/had diffuse thinning. (I've gotten amazing results on minoxidil, having had been on Finasteride-alone for 9 months prior to minoxidil, same as you, OP).

2) Dunno, I use the liquid and rub it around so it doesn't run around my face and so I can tackle all the spots I want. I use one push for my left temple and one push for my right temple, also rubbing the stuff towards my forelock from either side so it kind of covers the whole hairline from the temples. Then I do a few drops around my vertex on the top as well as the cowlick/swirl around the back of my hair.
