Questions about Xandrox & spironolactone

All these products can be really confusing, but I think I've just about managed to cut through all of it and get to what I really want.

I've found that a combination of Xandrox+spironolactone alongside my Nizoral regime could be what I'm looking for, but I've got a few questions that I'd really appreciate answered.

1) Is Xandrox 5% better than a standard minoxidil 5% treatment?
2) Can Xandrox 5% be used twice a day?
3) Is spironolactone meant to be applied before or after Xandrox/minoxidil treatment?
4) Can spironolactone be used twice a day?

Dr Lee's website, though informative, isn't exactly the most user-friendly =P I've found some contradicting information regarding doses n' such, so I'd be grateful if you guys could help me out.

Cheers!

1) Is Xandrox 5% better than a standard minoxidil 5% treatment?

On paper, it is supposed to be. But, I don't know of any studies that prove it to be so.

2) Can Xandrox 5% be used twice a day?

Yes

3) Is spironolactone meant to be applied before or after Xandrox/minoxidil treatment?

Depends on which form of spironolactone you are using. If using the 2% liquid, you should apply spironolactone first and minoxidil after. If using 5% cream, Dr Lee suggests that you apply minoxidil first, and after the minoxidil sets a bit, apply the spironolactone cream on top of it.

4) Can spironolactone be used twice a day?

Yes, but with a footnote. The am application of spironolactone can be problematic for some, as the combination of the spironolactone plus minoxidil plus heat can create a recognizable odor. From my own personal experience (I've used both 2% liquid and 5% cream in the past), the 2% I could only apply at night. In the daytime, especially on warm days, it would start to smell a bit.

When I switched to 5% cream the odor issue completely went away. Completely odor free. However, the benefit of the lack of odor was cancelled out by the inability to apply 5% to areas of existing, but male pattern baldness affected, hair as the 5% cream tended to clump up a bit in the hair. So, I still use it in the mornings, but only apply it to the hairline and upper temple areas.

So, in a nutshell, the 2% liquid is good because you can apply it with ease over the entire scalp. It's bad because it tends to smell a bit when mixed with minoxidil in conditions of heat. The 5% cream is good because it has no odor, but it's too thick in consistency to apply over the scalp on the whole without visible clumpiness in the hair.
