Hey, i'm a 21yr old dude that one day unfortunately thought about hair loss, and ever since i have been a bit nervous. I don't have any concrete evidence and i am quite sure that i'm not balding yet, even though i have quite the mature hairline to the point where i wouldn't be horribly surprised if it's receding, but i had more or less the same hairline at 17-18 which leads me to think it's just the way it is (my temples are shaped like a V and not a U fyi, i have in fact never seen a picture of myself with a proper juvenile hairline, even when i was all the way down to 12-13yrs old). But either way i want to get a few questions off my chest.
Hair pull test - I know the specifics about how to do it and what results to expect, but one thing i don't see mentioned anywhere is does it matter if you say consistently lose more hair grabbing in one of areas that are naturally prone to balding? I assume this is the case because it makes sense. In my case, in the morning before showering i tug slightly on one spot grabbing well over 100 hairs i'd say, and i'l usually lose 0-3 hairs, occasionally but rarely 4. I generally lose most on top of my head where my headset usually sits (i wear those 12+ hours a day most of the time so i wonder if it has anything to do with it), and also all the way back near my neck and behind my ears for some reason. Around my temples seem to be 2-3 on average i'd say.
Hair shedding - Lately i have noticed more shedding, if i were to clean my pillow before going to bed i would easily wake up with 10 hairs on it. If i were to go to the sink in the morning and vigorously brush my hair with my fingers i would again easily lose about another 10. That said it's important noting i have lost a lot of weight lately, the first weight loss burst was about 10kg in 2 months, and i recently started again. I weighed around 110kg before i started about 4 months back, and i have heard losing weight rapidly tends to make you shed more.
Genetics wise i'm definitely not the luckiest guy, my dad starting going bald at around 30 and didn't have much left by 40 (he never used any sort of medication though). My mothers side are a lot better though.
So yeah, hopefully someone can read through this and give me an assessment and or answer some of the questions i asked.
Cheers!
