Hey I am new to this forum. I am 24 years old and have noticed within the past year a lot more that my hair has started to receed and thin some at the top. I have been reluctant at first to go to the doctor and talk to him more about it and maybe start using propecia but I have now decided to. I was wondering with your guys experience first is when you go to the doctor should you go when your hair is longer or shorter to be best evaluated by your doctor. When I mean long, I dont really mean long long hair, just more my hair short hair has gotten thicker. The doctor I am seeing is a dermatologist. I have not gotten a haircut in a couple of weeks and was wondering if I should go get a haircut before seeing him or the way I am is fine for him to determine my actual state of hairloss. Also overall has propecia been successful for most and be a recommended product for young guys. I read about a lot of scary stories on here about side effects and bad results.
Thanks :)

Congrats on taking the first step to saving your hair. :) I wouldn't worry about the length of your hair when going to the doctor. He can see what he needs to either way.

Don't worry about the side effects either. The side effects get blown out of proportion on this board because most of the success stories flee these boards and never come back. The people with problems come here to either find answers or to b**ch. So the sample size is skewed. Anyway, even if you do get some side effects just quit the drug and everything will go back to normal.... its definitely worth a shot. I've been on it for 4 months with zero side effects.

yeah don't worry about hair length. Remember that the BEST results are from those who have maintained their hair rather then regrown so feel good that you are catching it early, as it sounds from your description.
