Question about how you knew....

I think you all would know this more than anyone else. How did you realize you were losing your hair versus normal shedding? I have had three rounds of shedding in my life which I describe as times I would notice hair in the shower or in my hands after putting gel in. During these times I have read where it is normal to lose 120/day and I don't think I am at that point. It seems after I go through this phase it seems to get thicker again. I don't know if this is normal!

I know I will have a NW2 or possibly 3 but everyone in my family dad, grandfathers, uncles and cousins have good hair. I do expect to thin out some and they have recession in the front which I am fine with.

So, the question is how do you know if it is more serious than this? Sometimes I feel like I am just being paranoid. Did you notice hair falling out all the time in large amounts?

Thanks for your input!

I started to notice my hairloss when I was showering and my hands would be covered in hair when I shampoo. I never really remembered losing that much hair in the shower before so I just brushed it off and put it off as stress caused by school.

Fast forward a couple weeks, I started to see more and more scalp through my hair whenever I looked in the mirror. That's when I finally realized I had male pattern baldness.

This is most probably a stupid question.

Hairs have life cycles. Some shedding takes place all the time but surely there are times when natural shedding is greater. The question is, how do we know that when people start treatments that a greater shedding has or is just taking place and then a few months later the person goes into a much reduced shedding period, hence any maintenance attributed to treatment is only just part of a reduced shedding period?

Or, when shedding increases after say 2 years on procepia, the hair is going into a natural increased loss period?

My hands are never covered in hair but rather I see a max of 10 hairs on my hands. It's happened twice before at around 25 and 28. I am now 31. It seems to last maybe 6 months and then stops. Then for some reason I feel like it regains the thickness. I understand many of us will thin out some, like my father, but I just want to make sure it doesn't all come out. I've used a drain stopper too and I have counted 84 hairs when I took two showers in one day. I never really find hair on my pillow or other random places. I may have four or five on my hands after putting gel in too.

Who knew hairloss would be so stressful. I have many friends who are bald or almost all the way bald and they don't care at all. They still get the girls all the time too.
