Query about missing doses

I've been on Propecia for a year almost. It has helped maintain what I have, plus possibly some regrowth (although having recently started minoxidil I don't know which was responsible).

Unfortunately due to money issues this month, i've almost ran out of Propecia. I was taking it daily until the 11th of may, and as I only had 2 tablets left I took one yesterday. I have one left to last me until 24th may. 11 days away.

Do you think having one tablet between now and then will induce a shed? I'd love to order pills individually but nowhere does it without a prescription (and I buy mine online). Know anywhere that does them individually in the uk?

The best thing to do would be to cute the pill into forths and take one every second day. You will certainly not shed this say. As they say, .25 was found to be nearly as effective as 1mg. If you spread it out you will be fine.

If you take it all at once and multiple days without it you can likely see a shed occur.

More than likely absolutely nothing will happen if you don't take propecia for 11 days. It will take a week before your DHT levels return to normal.

Beaner is right. With the long term use of 1mg a day of finasteride it will take between 7-14 days for your DHT levels to stabilize to pre finasteride usage a year ago.

Also you dont need the full 1mg of finasteride as finasteride is very dosage baseline for most individuals. Clinical trials have show that a dosage as small as .2mg that 1/5 of your current daily dosage is 80% as effective.


Best advice is to take you current pill break it up in quarters or even 1/5 if you can.

You may even want to take .5mg one you restock unless you were one of the rare individuals that didnt respond to .5mg when you first started.

Keep in mind that the 1mg was decided on based off the highest dosage that was well tolerated by the trail group. .5mg and above is a wast for most individuals. Of course there are as in all cases individuals who dont respond well and those benefit more with a higher dosage or even dutasteride.

Thanks alot for your input people . The idea of splitting the pill into 1/4 or 1/5's never actually occured to me for some reason.

Whilst i've never really suffered from bad side effects; there has definately been one minor side i've noticed. Will be interesting to see if this reverses over the next week with the lowered dose! unk:
