hi im new here,my names james, my hair line is thinning slowly but surely in the corners :sobbing: , im planning on getting on the so called big 3, finasteride, nizoral, and minoxidil, to keep all the hair iv got, what i was wondering is how long will it prevent my hair loss for? im only 20 now so would love to keep my hair untill my 30's 40's. thanks.

no way to tell really,some people have maintained their hair for ten years on finasteride alone and are still doing so

if you use the big three religiously then you have every chance of doing the same and we are all hopeful better treatments will come along in that time

I believe Michael Barry posted something to the effect that, for an average person, propecia alone will buy you about 14 years above baseline.

Add minoxidil and nizoral and you've likely added a few more.

is Dutasteride better to go on than finesteride then ? and is propecia the same thing as finasteride? also what should i start on with finasteride? just half a tablet a day? and wheres the cheapest place to get them, online?

I agree with Michael Barry that finasteride alone will buy you on average about 14 years of at least having the hair you started with(i.e. maintaining). Adding nizoral can probably add another couple years, and using dutasteride instead of finasteride, plus the nizoral, can probably buy you an average of 25+ years above baseline. Something better will CERTAINLY be out by then. Proscar has only been out, what , 15 years, and dutasteride 5 or 6? Imagine what we'll have 20 years from now. Hair cloning will almost certainly be here in some effective form by 2025. Of course, based on what you said, you may not care if you bald in your 40s or 50s, so it shouldn't matter.

so whats best to use dustateride or finasteride? & use that along with nizoral shampoo & minoxidil?
