Don't forget that Dr. Proctor claims that Proxiphen can also help areas to which it's not directly applied.

I still think that for people who have diffuse thinning all over the top that an oral DHT inhibitor is much easier and more effective than a topical.

if we are taking me, for example, i am thinning all over the top of my head, the front, and the top of the sides and back. my hair is medium length as well so applying a topical would be time consuming and messy and the hair might absorb it rather than the scalp.

Why do people keep saying "DHT inhibitor"? :-x

that bothers me too, unless they are talking about EQOUL binding to DHT. I wonder how many people understand the difference between 5ar inhibitors and androgen receptor inhibitors.

I'm sure that everybody other than absolute newbies understands the difference by now, but people still keep saying that. I've been harping about it for years, but it doesn't do any good!

Bryan and CCS.

I think people make these mistakes and get confused because they pick up snippets of information from various threads which are spread over a period of time. It would be useful if there were a 'sticky' or similar giving a few basic facts like A does this and B does that etc.

BTW, which do you think is the bolder statement to make: for Dr. Proctor to say that prescription Proxiphen is UNQUESTIONABLY more effective than finasteride, or for me to imply that it's not obvious whether Prox-N or finasteride is more effective?

I would definitely say your statement Bryan. I just don't think Prox-N is powerful enough to compete with a proven treatment like Finasteride.

I know they work on completely different mechanisms so they would complement one another nicely, but if a good buddy of mine was balding and wanted help I would recommend finasteride over Prox-N in a heartbeat to him.

Now Proxiphen on the other hand (although I've never used it) sounds like a damn good treatment, and because of its multi-angled approach and powerful ingredients, I would say it has the potential to be better than Finasteride alone. I just wish it wasn't so damn expensive! :freaked2:

I'm not so sure that there's all THAT much difference in effectiveness between Prox-N and Proxiphen. I hope you're keeping in mind that now, even Prox-N contains some PBN and/or TEMPO/TEMPOL, although I doubt that the amount is as high in Prox-N as it is in Proxiphen.

Ive used prox-N on and off with cheaper peptides like folligen and tricomin.

I have a very high opinion of prox-N. I think its very good stuff. Wish Dr. P gave you a little more. I used to privately complain about the dropper application, but over time Ive began to recognize that this is probably the most economical way to get the treatment where it matters, the scalp....

Prox N has abosocbyl palimitate, a proven hair growth stimulator, arginine that gets you much more oxygen, copper and zinc peptides.....both of which (or the ions within) mildly inhibit type 1 alpha five reductase, various superoxide dismutases. Just adding propecia to prox-n would probably keep a guy who is just starting to thin "in hair" until genetic treatments or cloning comes out.

All of you young'uns just starting to lose your hair dont realize just how lucky you are............................the vast majority of you can stop further baldness with stuff like finasteride, prox-N, and nizoral alone. Thats a terrific little regimine right there.

Hey Bryan, just found this quote from Dr. P on alt.baldspot:

Probably. BTW, though it is certianly not the most potent agent we have,
NANO shampoo give the most bang for the buck.

I'd like to know the relative concentrations of 60mL proxiphen solution, prox-N, and lef.org prox-N, so I could know if it is better to apply 15 drops of prox-N before spreading it around with GTE solution, or better to apply 30 of lef.org prox-N, or 8 drops of proxiphen.

The lef.org stuff sounds easier to spread around.
