Protein D2 vs DHT?

with the buzz around the new finding regarding the protein d2 being found in abundance in areas of hair loss/miniaturization verse none found in healthy areas, how does this relate to the concept of DHT causing balding?

ie, if this protein causes balding, what does inhibiting DHT such as finasteride do?

My non scientific answer is its just 2 separate approaches to the same problem. Maybe like going through the back door verses the front door just 2 different ways to get to the same place. I mean its arguable male pattern baldness is really an immune system problem not androgens or this protein they were looking at. So a different way would be targeting the immune system, but because its so important and complicated its probably easier to try a different way that is safer and maybe easier.

Better answer is in here about how DHT might play into this. Of course its all theory because the studies on pgd2 barely came out, results not replicated, many other factors probably to be looked into. The news claiming it was a cure was a pretty big stretch in my opinion.

DHT => Elevated COX-2 => Elevated PGD2 => Let's block COX-2 or PGD2

Where,
-- Blocking COX-2 => Lower PGE2 (bad)
-- Blocking PGD2 has unknown additional consequences (maybe "some" is necessary)
