proscar vs propecia dosage?

hi im new to this forum. have a quick question.
people say proscar is 5mg of finasteride and propecia is 1mg.
however i read that propecia is often broken into .25mg or .33mg dosages?
then why am i reading that proscar is broken into five 1mg sections.. isnt that too much if people are taking .25mg?

also, why does proscar even come in 5mg tablets? are people expected to take 5mg at a time?

The average dose of finasteride is 1mg. Some people take smaller doses for various reasons.

Proscar is used primarily to treate the Prostate, which is why the dose is 5mg.
