As far as I am aware it does not matter. I was given no advice by my Pharamcist or Dermatologist when given finasteride. It does not say on the packaging weather or not it makes a difference. Also I have never seen any documentation from a credible source indicating that taking finasteride on either a empty or full stomach would make any difference.

im pretty sure on the packaging or instructions that come with propecia bottle it says you can take it with or without food... just as long as you take it
