Propecia side effects, dosage and experimentation

Hello, everyone.
So I've now been on propecia for about 25 days. Started out with 1mg, which turned out to be overkill as it sent my heart rate soaring and made it difficult for me to even fall asleep. I'm now down to 0.5 mg; my heart rate's still somewhat fast, but I can easily deal with that. I'm also fine with the occasional slight testicle ache and watery semen, even if these won't ever go away.

What I am very much worried about, though, is the drop in libido and weaker erections, which I began experiencing in the past week or two. Rather than panicking and letting paranoia get the best of me, I decided to look for answers. So I have a few questions and I would really appreciate it if you could help me clear up some things:

-Do the side effects (specifically loss of libido and weak erections) ever just go away even if you decide to stay on Propecia? (I understand it might vary from person to person, but I'd like to know if it is at all possible(?))
-Do the side effects become increasingly worse with time? Is my libido bound to decline even further?
-Does the risk of permanent damage depend on the time spent on propecia? Is there like a safe time frame where you can experiment with dosage and side effects (before quitting if they prove too much) without risking any long-term damage?
-Is it common practice for people to just continue taking Propecia despite the side effects?

I'd be grateful for any information.

Side Effects: Loss of libido, penile impotence, gynocomastia (breast enlargement in males), reflex hyperandrogenecity (increased shedding, acne). The incidence of sexual side effects is likely much higher than the 2% reported in the PDR. If you are one of the people who are affected and therefore cannot take Propecia, there are more advanced phyto-sterol formulas that are equally, if not more efficacious than Propecia, due to their ability to simultaneously address multiple mechanisms. If you feel you must use Propecia to maintain hair growth, but are concerned with side effects, you can use it in conjunction with Natural phyto-Estrogen w/Pomegranate Extract to ameliorate or prevent side effects.

i found this info too

"I believe that genetics and diet will affect how your body will react to finasteride.

DHT is a more potent form of testosterone, and you have significantly less DHT than testosterone in your body. If you take fanasteride, your body must compensate for the lack of DHT by producing more testosterone. This why, for most people, finasteride raise testosterone.

However, some people may not be able to produce more testosterone because of a bad diet. For example, refined carbonhydrate will drop your testosterone level 25%, no wonder why some people may lack libido if they don't let their body compensate for the lack of DHT via a bad diet."

this is utterly false, there is no feedback mechanism your body has which tells it to produce more T when your DHT is low. And finasteride raises test for ALL people, all else being equal, the reason being is less is converted to DHT.

As for the OP in regard to the questions:

1. Yes, for many side effects will go away within first few weeks if you continue taking it. They tend to go away or at least become more mild, although if they are severe I recommend stopping.
2. There is zero evidence that propecia causes permanent side effects. Maybe if you take it for an extremely long time while enduring severe sides it may have long term effects.
3. Yes a lot of people continue to take it over the short term in the hopes sides go away if they get sides initially

Your heart rate is unrelated to your finasteride. Don't blame finasteride on everything. If you were constipated tomorrow would you blame that on the finasteride too?
