why are people brushing this off?

I was always under the impression that serious sides go away after discontinuing finasteride.... so this is definitely huge news for me.

This site has been around for ages.

I haven't read it entirely, but if this guy's claims are true, why don't he gets a lawyer and sues Merck?.

I bet there are tons of legal precedents of the same kind.

He can make millions with that sad story about his penis.

This site is very real, anyone that puts it by the wayside as fiction is sorely wrong.

One of the sites I ran across while trying to decide what I was going to do with Finasteride.

I'm sure what he says is real.

However, the "lingering" of the side effects could be psychological. ED is sometimes a psychological problem anyway - by this i mean, after months of not being able to get it up, he believes he can never get it up again.

hence - he can never get it up again.

On the other hand, he could have suffered from permanent ED from finasteride. However, people die from Aspirin. People react to cough medicine and cough blood. Coming from a medical family, i have heard about these things.

However, I'm sure that a aspirinsideeffects.com, coughmedicinesideeffects or viagrasideeffects exist...

For me though - Great. After seeing my pictures, and how much ive receded in a mere 3 months, i finally decide i have to give finasteride a shot.

I think, "hey, i probably wont get sides and if i do i can just quit and they'll be gone" but this site appears to be on the contrary. God dammit, why don't they make a safe treatment as effective as finasteride!

It's all about risks and returns.
Take risks with finasteride and you could be rewarded with nice thick hair.

But the irreversible sides are real. Rare but real.

Definitely real, you'd be a fool to ignore them. Tell the thousands of people that have permanent sides that it's all phychological, I'm sure they could only wish that were the case.

People need to quit being ignorant about the possiblity of having permanent side effects from Finasteride. Although they are rare, it's possible.

In saying you'd be a fool to ignore them, what is someone to do then, if he is losing his hair rapidly?

It's either try something unproven or go with finasteride and risk it. And when going for finasteride it'd be better to keep side effects out of your mind (ie ignoring them) than go looking for them all the time and foster paranoia.

And minoxidil is the only other proven thing, but most of the time doesn't allow people to keep their hair, usualyl just an "initial offset of growth" according to bryan.

And are there really "thousands" of people with permanent sides?

If so we need to bear in mind how popular propecia is. If say, 10 million people take finasteride, 2% of those would be 200 000 people with side effects.

Thats a whole lot of people! However, your chances are still 98% to avoid them.

I totally agree, not trying to argue. I'm just saying it'd be ridiculous to pass off what he's saying as fallacy, you can let it effect your personal decision how you wish. As you said, they represent an extremely small percentage of Finasteride users.

The Yahoo Group contains people with side effects trying to figure out ways to get back to normal.

Hehehe yeah i wasn't putting that out there as a challenge or anything. I just checked some images and saw how much hair i'd lost, and after about a week of panicking decided on finasteride.

Then i read this site, and there's more to panic about!

You can see why im on edge here. I hope i don't get permanent sides and hope those poor people do indeed "get back to normal."
