Hi Guys,
I have been taking Propecia for 11 months to deal with my receding hairline, which seemed to rapidly develop from a normal hairline to a Norwood 2 within 12-18months when I was 21. I am now 28 and I have continued to lose hair, not backwards but towards the middle, and at a much reduced rate. I am probably considered a 2.5-3 on the Norwood scale today.
Since taking Propecia I have seen thickening of the hair in the middle part and regrowth (although slow) along the hairline where I had originally lost it. It’s nothing drastic but it’s a clear sign I am responding to the medication. I can post pics if there are any requests. I take multiple photos and videos every 2 months to record progress.
I have never been overly concerned about my crown as its never caused me any bother, but since reaching this age I have started paying more attention to it….maybe too much?
I have what I would call a typical crown cowlick. A small spot of scalp where the hair parts and then slightly less hairs per inch as its spreads out. I used to worry about the lesser hair count around the spot until I observed that everyone has that, even my girlfriend. I don’t appear to have any hair miniaturization and the hairs are thick.
So, that being said, I ‘think’ I’m safe for now. But for some bizarre reason I am really anxious about losing it? It’s not its current state that bothers me, it’s the future. Which I think bothers all of us about our hair loss journey?
My question is, if I am responding to propecia on the frontal region (an area we are all told medication won’t be as effective on), is it safe to assume the crown is responding just as well, if not better? Has anyone heard of or experienced responding well at the front but continue to lose at the back?
Thanks in advance for your responses.
