Propecia saves "real" hair, minoxidil just grows vellus hair?

Im having second thoughts on putting minoxidil in my regime after 1 month..after reading a lot on this great site I started minoxidil, in addition to Propecia, in my desperation to save as much hair as possible.

But after thinking about stuff for a while I got some issues with minoxidil since my frontal area have become quite thin after I started with minoxidil and I think many of the hairs maybe will become minoxidil dependent ..I use minoxidil on my hair line, on the thinning behind my hairline on one side and crown..My concern is that hair that grows were I put the minoxidil will become minoxidil addicted and they become tiny colorlessly/white long hair, instead of which I waited some months and got some regrowth from Propecia with "real" or "normal" hair, that didn't need the constant minoxidil to stay alive.

This issue is somewhat related to my "dream"/hope on future treatment like RU/ASJ/etc, since they are generally DHT blocker, they work similar to Propecia, and as we all know Propecia cant save minoxidil dependent hair when you go of the minoxidil. And then your stuck with minoxidil for the rest of your life :nono:

I know Propecia and minoxidil work synergistic and will produce more hair together then alone. I have just been thinking about future living when I travel with friends and family..Its so easy just to pop a pill, but the foam takes a bit of effort, at least if you share a cabin with many others, a little embarrassing to..and its kinda weird if you hook up with a nice girl at a party and spend the night at hers and hang out all the next day in the park, and then say "sorry babe, I have to go home and put on my chemicals so I can keep this shity hair"..any ideas on that to? Since I put the minoxidil in right before bed, I wouldn't put it in before I go out, and then if I end up at some afterparty or somewhere else for the night I would miss like 2-3 minoxidil applications..would that be a problem if it happends 1-2 a month, usually quite good with doing my regime?

Any one have any experience or knowledge about this?
Is it as easy like this: if Propecia would regrow hair on your scalp, it does, and minoxidil just grows all the hair that have been "to" vellus so that Propecia cant growit? And the hair that has fallen out , after starting minoxidil, is just the usual finasteride shed/normal growth cycle.
This has been troubling my mind for some days so I would love some answers whether not to stop using minoxidil on other part than just the front hairline

Just for info. 24 years old..Ive been on Propecia for a little over 2 months now and minoxidil for 1 month or so(foam day, liquid night untill my liquid rans out, then its foam all day), going trough a shed at the moment, at least more than usual, it sucks, but just gotta keep on going, life sucks anyways at the moment..But its a little nasty getting lots of hairs on your fingers when your putting in the minoxidil especially when I have to look at my thinning crown/top when applying the minoxidil :puke:

Another question, I dont wanna be all paranoid and stuff, but like prob all of the users of Propecia I think of the sides..I really haven't got any at the moment..But I think my nipple is growing a little, not much..it just feels a little more sensitive..Is this normal and will this go away or not accelerate? But But, it could all be in my mind, never actually focused on my nipple before so dont know how it was in the past hehe

And again..I cant say this enough..This site has helped me alot and I really like the people that gives other "future baldies" answers so they keep their hair..Should name some names, but the people that usually answers others know who they are :jump:

Alot of what you said is very similar to the way I think except I just recently stopped minoxidil because it was making the areas of application more worse than any other product I've applied, so now I'm just stuck on .5mg Finpecia. In my opinion it's just not worth it to me to watch minoxidil "kill" (not literally...or at least I hope) my hair and wait sooo long for the probable results to arrive. It's almost like a side effect of minoxidil is depression for me. I usually blame it on the fact that I know that even if it does work that it won't be my real hair....so every application is hard for me. I used this as a last ditch effort considering everything else I've used, but now I'm just real determined to find something. I'm looking into spironolactone + other things.

Any one have any experience or knowledge about this?

I read this a couple of times in a row and don't understand what you're asking.

If you use 1mg, then try reducing to .5mg. You save money and lower the risk of side effects that way. .5mg if 100% effective as 1mg. Post your regimen in the "View My Regimen" feature....it will be more helpful for others to help you and it will also help others who are seeking ideas for their own treatment.

I feel the same way, every time I start to feel down about my hair loss, I usually sign onto here and feel better by the time I sign off.

Have edited a little, but can explain..

Is it like this, Propecia will regrow all the hair that it have the effect to regrow, and the hair stay Propecia-dependent even if you use minoxidil in addition for extra growth. And the minoxidil just grows vellus hair bigger or/and grow hair that propecia cant grow.

Yes, that's supposedly supposed to happen. So if you ever decide to stop using minoxidil.....you should lose all the hair you gain with minoxidil, but still have the hair you had before using minoxidil instead of losing all the hairs you gained with minoxidil + the ones you should've kept with propecia. That's a bit wordy...let me know if you don't understand.

Yes its kinda troubling..but the big question for is more like "how much hair do Propecia grow back, and how much hair does minoxidil grow back"..If propecia grows back 80% of the regrown hair it wouldnt be that much of a problem..but if minoxidil regrows alot of hair the problem is bigger..And the stupid thing is that know one really knows how minoxidil works to regrow hair..

Even tought that alot of hair can become minoxidil dependent I think I still gonna use it, because it is quite follish to think that Propecia vill give you a full head of hair..and when I read all the success stories 90% of them use minoxidil together with Propecia.

It would be nice know if any Propecia/minoxidil user lost alot of hair when they stopped using minoxidil?

BTW, 0.5mg finasteride is 80% as effective as 1mg

I've noticed tons of new thick white hairs filling in every where I was thinning I believe in order to get the full benefits use both it's working for me and I've been balding for ten years I'm excited my hair is thicker than ever with new hairs popping out I no it's because of finasteride more so than rogaine because I used rogaine for a year and saw no response I think if I stop using rogaine finasteride will let me keep those new hairs it's the same logic as taking it after a hair transplant
