Bad advice from a doctor again, go figure.

You did not state whether you are using Nizoral or not. The itch can be controlled with Nizoral. Everyone using Propecia must also use Nizoral. Do not stop taking Propecia.

Start using nizoral shampoo once every 3 days. Allow it to soak for the duration of your shower, rinse, then reapply, rinse.

Allow up to 3 weeks before things settle down completely, then continue with Nizoral indefinitely.

Use Nizoral alternating with T/Gel. I thinks it will benefit your itching scalp.

Get some TRICOMIN into your regimen also..

Makes a huge diff for me!

DO NOT STOP TAKING PROPECIA, NO MATTER WHAT YOU HEAR.

nizoral and t/sal are practically guaranteed to alleviate your itching for the most part. it worked for me.

the itching maybe caused by increased oiliness due to propecia. however, there are 2 types of itch ive experinced. one feels like bugs crawling through my hair and the other is like a sharp, pinpoint itch/pain thing.

when i started dutasteride both itches subsided to some degree, but now that im on dutasteride AND nizoral it happens only 10-15% compared to as often as it did.

eh? propecia related itch?..

i thought the itch came with male pattern baldness, not male pattern baldness treatment.

i have dry hair and a dry scalp and i get the itch , maybe twice a week for 2 - 3 minutes max? and if i wash my hair it goes away...is that what people mean by the itch? or is it worse and lasts longer than in my case?..

also, i remember about 5 - 6 months back..sometimes when i'd touch my scalp i'd get a bruised feeling, a very slight burn, only when i'd touch it there. once again...'very slight'. does that come with male pattern baldness too?

is this itch because of propecia?

i keep on hearing about this itch..and flaking and i never experianced any of that...thank God..

the_krush, what you describe about your scalp is exactly what I had, and I believe it is classic male pattern baldness-related scalp irritation.

From my experience, my scalp went through periods where it was especially itchy, and periods where it would subside a bit. The itchy periods were associated with accelerated recession.

I suggest picking up some T/Gel Anti-Itch shampoo. It is not basic T/Gel, but T/Gel with an added shot of Menthol in it which is a topical anesthetic. I would definitely also consider adding in a copper peptide spray.

nizoral+t-gel

I got to agree with you guys, as I suffered from 'the itch' after starting dutasteride... super itchy head... wasnt nice!!!

I now wash my hair every other day with t-gel and then nizoral.. works really well and my head is much less itchy...

I noticed someone said about an increase in oils in the hair... my hair is really greasy since i started taking dutasteride... does anyone know anything i can do to combat this?

as my doctor said, i stoped taking propecia for a week,to see if it is the cause.and now i found out that propecia was the cause for the itching.my hair was oily, now it looks dry.

now iam little confuse should i continue with treatmen and deal with the itch or simply stop it and keep losing hair. since it realy worked good so far, almost seven months now.

When i first started taking Propecia about 5 months ago i stated to get ithy a lot of the time on this one spot on the side of my head. It was annoying but after a couple of months or so it went away. I would stick with the finasteride and it will probabbly go away soon and continue with the nizoral also.
