Propecia question

I am about to go on Propecia but the following troubles me.

I often hear people saying the likes of "Things will get worse before they get better on Propecia but stick it out" or "Once you take Propecia, get ready for the shed of your life, but after month 7 or so, you'll see amazing results."

Here's the thing- If you are not a responder to Propecia, do things still get worse? I mean, if the typical responder's hairloss "gets worse before it gets better", surely that would mean for a non-responder, things get worse and.......stay worse. Can anyone clarify this?

First off I don't think that things always get worse before they get better. Most of the time it's just the natural hairloss process until the drug kicks in.
For instance if your losing 100 hairs in the shower a day you'll probably continue to for a few months until it kicks in. It may even be a little worse but whose to say it wouldn't have done that if you didn't take Propecia.

If your not a responder to finasteride your male pattern baldness will contine to to worsen as if you've never taken the drug in the first place.

Take pictures. This is the only real way you'll be able to tell if your getting worse or better.....You can be shedding a lot of hair and still have inprovments or maintainence.

no, shedding is a response.

also, shedding I think has been over promoted, I guess the majority of users do not experience a noticable shed.

I have never shed for what it's worth.

Nice graph by the way, Mr Ty.

the graph is a product of various peoples input (cassin, bryan etc).

Proscar is cheaper, much cheaper and made by the same folk in the same lab with the same ingredients as propecia.

It's not that Proscar it worryingly cheap (as it was sold commercialy first) it's that propecia is expensive.

good luck, hopefully you won't need it if you do your research.

Damn I love that graph. Makes me feel like a kid on Christmas day knowing that I am on the big 3.

cassin, if you could find me any kind of data on Ketoconazole use, I could (symbolically) factor that into the graph, It would not be an 'absolute' value (like the other values) just a guide.

It would only improve the outlook for Big 3 users.

The graph also does not take into account any synergistic effects of using minoxidil, Ketoconazole and finasteride together, again improving the graphs profile.

I'm only on the Big 2 (Propecia & nizoral 1%) :D

However, I hope I won't ever need that last item of the 3. minoxidil.

Come on thinning crown.. fill in!

Good move, only go for all three toppings on the head pizza, when you know you are going to be left hungry.

If any one is looking for similar male pattern baldness analogies, I am avaliable for work.

To sum it all up!

Basicaly it comes down to a 6% increase in hair weight after 6 months(Nizoral use).

Now should we add such things as Copper-Peptides or increased absorbtion of topicals after T/Sal! ............ah but alas we shall never know for sure what they do.

It's not even worth touching the graph for.

I haven't touched the 'graph' for weeks, just haven't felt the urge, possible finasteride side effect #2204 ?
