Propecia - Intervals in use

Hi guys!

I've been using Propecia with decent results for 2 years now (I just turned 23).

I had only one 1-month interval since then, a year ago. Do you think I should make another? I mean, I am not too sure if intervals are necessary at all, but from what I've heard they help your receptors not get used to finasteride and thus make it work for you for longer. On the other hand, I'm a little concerned that after such a break, Propecia may not work as good as before.

Also, how long should the intervals be? 1, 2 months?

I'd appreciate all comments. Thanks!

You're causing fluctuations in your hormone levels by doing so. That's not good. I recommend using the drug without pause, as intended.

Thanks for your reply!

What do you think about taking 0.5 mg for a while, would it still be bad?

My desire is to make finasteride work efficiently as long as possible.

It will work worse if you take a break.

I've explained finasteride half life in relation to side effects here; viewtopic.php?f=46&t=62425. As you see, 0.5 mg is nearly as effective as 1 mg a day, but it'll still compromise the result long term. I don't believe finasteride will work longer if you take less, or pause the treatment for periods. DHT is still produced while using finasteride, and your hair loss will eventually progress if the follicles are sensitive enough.
