Propecia at 0.5 mg- Am I not taking full advantage?

Hey guys, I'm 19 years old and I started noticing about 3 months ago that my hair was slightly thinning in the front with early recession in the temples. Being that both my parents' sides have a history of baldness, specially my mom's, I got paranoid. I went to a dermatologist and noticed it as early male pattern baldness right away and prescribed Propecia for me. I started taking 0.5mg of Propecia ED starting about a month and a half ago. Now being in the early stages of male pattern baldness, everyone seems to talk about this "window" early detectors have to halt/possibly reserve male pattern baldness. Assuming this is the case, would it be wiser to just up the dosage to 1mg ED? I cut it down to 0.5 MG to save money, but also because I'm afraid of the side effects that may occur as well as the huge shedding phases (which I've read can both be possibly avoided/diminished at a lower dose). Is the difference in effectiveness between 0.5 mg and 1mg big enough to warrant upping the dose for full effect? Any advice would be great.

Personally I think at 0.5mg you'll be fine...even 0.25mg blocks almost the sames amount of DHT as 1mg.

Because of the relatively "flat" dose-response curve of finasteride, you're unlikely to see much difference in either side effects or desired effects between 0.5 mg/day and 1 mg/day. It _will_ save you money, though! :)
