Prevention of Future male pattern baldness?

This doesn't technically go in the future treatments forum, as it's hardly a treatment. I was wondering though, what if a boy with future male pattern baldness always had his head shaved? From what I read, I read that DHT/sebum has a chance to screw up the follicle when the follicle sheds, but logically the follicle will never shed if the hair is constantly 1 millimeter long so, could this be a solution in a way? Maybe prolong the existence of the male's follicles?

But aside from that I did hear about some kind of genetic fix that could be done on babies to prevent them from balding in the future. Anyone know what's that about?

I think you are wrong in your theory....

Shaving the hair has no effect on the follicles, it only cuts what's on the surface. In other words, the root of the hair is unaffected by shaving.

A follicle that has come to the end of its life, will be shed no matter what. Having very short hair will make the shedding process somehow harder to detect, but that doesn't mean there is no shedding.

So I think you're saying DHT affects the follicles even when they're not shedding. A follicle won't shed when the hair isn't sticking out of the skin.

Umm...why wouldn't a hair shed if it was 1mm long?

It still will, you just probably won't see it fall out.

It still makes no sense a hair would shed when it's below skin level.

Anyway, I'm still wondering if anyone knows about the genetic fix thing in babies.
