Pretty Down About My Current Hair Situation

So I’ve been losing hair now pretty heavily for just under 12 months and I’m now pretty down about it all the time.

No family history of male pattern baldness, parents in their late 60’s still with a full head of hair.

Wanted some different opinions of potential paths I coule take? Whether it be just stopping my hair loss and or even potentially trying to regrow hair.

I am currently taking a natural DHT blocker, have been now for a month with little to no effect paired with Nioxin 2 Shampoo & conditioner.

Photos uploaded below, bare in mind my hair is wet here so it does look a lot worse than what it would usually.

You need finasteride to even stand a chance. Hair looks to be nw3- 4

So think Fina is my only/best option?

I’m going to try Ubiquinol, 100 mg just as a last bet before I go onto last option of Fina. I do have a partner and I’m just self conscious these days with the way my hair is receding...

So pretty willing to try anything at this point also

Finasteride isnt last options there are plenty of hardcore alternatives. Finasteride is probably the least hardcore. I think minoxidil is more dangerous then finasteride honestly

I see.. have you tried Finasteride yourself?
I think it’s time for me to go see a GP or Trichologist

That should be the first thing you do. And yes I am currently on it. Not sure where it's going to take me but I'm remaining optimistic. I caught my thinning very early though. So I'm taking it almost preventively.

Sweet. Yeah honestly I should have done something a little earlier but at the end of the day I still have hair left so it’s never too late I guess.
Just earlier would have been better to catch it before it’s all fallen out.

Have you seen a specialist or dermatologist atleast? Get some blood work done. Could be something else. Who knows. But a professional can possibly figure it out.

Nope I haven’t. That’s going to be the next thing I do ASAP.
Thanks for the advice mate

I would see a dermatologist but they'll likely tell you the same things you'll hear here, that getting on the big 3 is your only course of action.

Whether you do that is up to you of course, for me the side effects of being bald were worse than the potential risks of the medication.

Yeah I’ve done quite abit of reading and research and tbh at the moment I’m willing to try anything now so if I get side effects from the meds I’ll decide what to do when that time comes

Sounds like a sensical plan. I thought about it like this.

Option 1: Do nothing and go bald. Get extremely depressed and suffer a lot. I would probably come to peace with it at some point but seeing as I'm in my 20's, it would be quite difficult to bear.

Option 2: Try medication. If the side effects get too bad, then at least I can say I tried and I'll go bald anyway.

Fortunately, I've been on them for practically 3 years and have no side effects.

Yeah exactly my thoughts too

I do care about my hair & it’s not even about what other people think.. Think about it way more often than I should which is a problem so any possible fix is going to help my mental health
