Post-finasteride Shed And Post-minoxidil Shed?

Hi,

I am trying to understand why your hair will often shed 'below baseline' after starting these drugs and then hopefully regrowth will occur. I am also wondering why you can have a period 'below baseline' after quitting these drugs before your hair will return to what it was before starting these meds?

I am wondering what is the science here?

I would say that going below baseline while on finasteride is due to a temporary Telogen Effluvium, caused by a sudden change in hormonal ratios/levels. As for minoxidil, shedding is expected as it literally forces the hair follicle to start a new cycle, thus inducing a premature telogen phase.
As for the other part, this is the first time I hear it.
