Im wondering which antiandrogen is thought to be more effective. spironolactone has been used for longer, with a variety of studies backing it up to different degrees, but fluridil had a double-blind trial showing it's effectiveness.

However i think the fluridil trial used strange ways of investigating (such as giving the placebo group the fluridil in month 3...) otherwise it wouldn't be regarded as "unproven."

Opinions please!

Surely if this was how it was done, the results are even more impressive (as if the fluridil had a hair increasing effect on the placebo group the difference between the two groups should be even larger)

I'm no expert on Fluridil. The science behind it seems sound, and if I'm being honest, better than spironolactone, but from what I've seen of peoples' tesimonials the results haven't been enough to justify the rather hefty pricetag.

What concerns me about fluridil is how water quickly terminally degrades it. Not only does this mean you can't put it on after you've washed your hair/applied minoxidil, but I also wonder what it does when it penetrates the scalp where there is obviously rather a lot of water.

Hmm well i just read an old post by Bryan where he stated he has "yet to see an independent study that fluridil even works as an antiandrogen"

So im sticking with spironolactone :)

The hefty price tag can be offset by only using half an ampule (the guy said you can do this if you seal the ampule completely after) ordering the one with free shipping, and completeing a survey which gives you another months supply. This way, the total cost of 10 months supply ends up being $184 if i remember correctly.

The things which mainly got me interested were
1) its apparently very easy to apply using the ampule (something important for my longer hair)
2) its only applied once per day

Still, a leap of faith...
