Hey everyone, I am a so called "newbie" on this forum. I am 20 years old and just starting to experience some thinning of my hair in the front (hairline) and temples this past summer. It isn't noticeable to anybody yet, but this is really bothering me...the fear that this will only get worse. I have mentioned it to others and they claim it is all in my head, but I am sure it's not because i can see it/feel it and my father went bald in his early 20's as well. Well, I went to a hair transplant doctor in hopes of hearing something good, and it really only made things worse. He told me that YES, I am seeing the early stages of baldness and the only way to deal with it is to hop on propecia and rogaine. At first it didn't seem to bad, but now I feel as if time is running out, and after reading many of the posts on this forum it seems as if the side effects of these drugs definitely outweigh any potential benefits they carry. Can anybody offer any good advice of where to start? Should somebody at my stage start off with rogaine or propecia, or both? If you took propecia, how did you fare as far as side effects went? Any drop in libido (worst fear)? What about brain fog, depression? How long into the regimine did you notice the effects, and did they fluctuate? What about the shedding process? Also with rogaine....I read many posts about this actually doing damage to hairlines, is this true?? PPPllease, I am desperate for some input/advice. This whole ordeal is very overwhelming and could not come at a worse time. Thanks

dont believe the hype about side effects, many many people here use the big three (rogaine, propecia and nizoral 2%) and have no side effects.I have used them for nearly three years with no side effects at all.

I would advise you to go to your doctor and get a script for propecia,it will maintain what you have.

I have mentioned it to others and they claim it is all in my head........their in the right vicinity :)

Like the guy who's trying to :firing: Bruce Willis wrote above the side effects are usually pretty minor and only effect a small percentage of users. You've spotted the early signs and are doing something about it so you've got a great chance of mantaining and most probably regrowing your hair.

Thanks, have you also ever heard of propecia prompting further hair loss in the temple/hairline region? I read somewhere that someone had shed while on the pill and his temple region simply didn't want to grow back, and this was somebody who had a full head of hair when he started. What do you think?
